To improve the performance of Operations by: providing constant challenge of the status quo; championing lean philosophy; implementing robust measurement of losses; facilitating the development and implementation of a continuous improvement plan. RESPONSIBILITIES - Ensure a safe working environment, striving for zero recordable injuries in compliance with internal policies and external legislation, through the delivery of key enabling activities (e.g. Near Misses, Safety Observations, timely completion of actions). Ensure that safety and environmental incidents are fully investigated and the appropriate countermeasures established. - Increase the transparency of Operations by ensuring robust measurement of losses for all areas of Operations e.g. generation of appropriate loss trees. To perform the duty of gatekeeper for the measurement system. - Encourage a ‘management by fact’ mindset. - Increase productivity within Operations by leading usage of the appropriate lean tools (e.g. value stream mapping, 5S, Kanban) to eliminate losses such as delay, duplication, unnecessary movement, unclear communication, incorrect inventory, lost sales and product defects. - Coach the production team in continuous improvement techniques and help them cascade this approach to their teams to develop a proactive continuous improvement culture. Help ensure that ownership of work is allocated to the lowest appropriate level. - Cooperate with entire factory management team to achieve higher level of STD WORKS (SW CI programme) and CI culture - Develop training programmes and undertake training in the use of continuous improvement tools. - Challenge the production team to ensure appropriate momentum of improvement. - Maintain the SW Continuous Improvement Database. - Manage project improvement initiatives. QUALIFICATIONS - Engineering degree or equivalent Professional Qualification is preferred. - Demonstration of formal training in Continuous Improvement Tools - Experience of continuous improvement working using and coaching CI tools and techniques. - Experience of using the TPM framework for improvement within a factory. - Experience of working in a manufacturing environment min. 3 years. - Strong financial and commercial awareness, with a good understanding of all functional areas within the business. - **Demonstration of: strong leadership through influencing and coaching; ability to communicate to all levels; energetic passion for creative but appropriate improvement; enthusiasm and patience to develop others; objective analytical style; a strong team work ethic.**: - Advanced PC skills essential - Lean six sigma certificates is an additional asset **#LI-JS2** EMPLOYER DESCRIPTION At Sherwin-Williams, our purpose is to inspire and improve the world by coloring and protecting what matters.
